Majors walk it off against Chatham-Kent
LONDON – A walk-off walk.
That’s how the London Majors capped a three-run 10th inning to beat Chatham-Kent 7-6 on Tuesday night at Labatt Park.
After Eduardo De Oleo tied the game earlier in the inning with a two-run single, Byron Reichstein watched Garret Day’s fifth pitch of the at bat sail wide of the plate for ball four. Tristan Osika scored, and the Majors improved to 9-4.
Reichstein finished with two RBI and Champ Garner drove in a run.
Christian Coombes (1-0) picked up the win in relief after allowing one of two Chatham runs in the top of the 10th. Victor Payano started on the mound and went six innings, allowing three runs on eight hits with two walks and six strikeouts.
Day (0-1) was charged with the loss after he gave up a run on two hits and two walks in one-third of an inning. Eric Pettipiece started for the Barnstormers (5-9) and went four innings, yielding four runs (three earned) on three hits with two walks and a strikeout.
Offensively, Anthony Polowick drove in three on two hits. Robert Mackie had two RBI while Lee Kucera, Seth Strong and Braxton Haggith all had a pair of hits.
