Majors walk it off against Chatham-Kent

LONDON – A walk-off walk.

That’s how the London Majors capped a three-run 10^th inning to beat Chatham-Kent 7-6 on Tuesday night at Labatt Park.

After Eduardo De Oleo tied the game earlier in the inning with a two-run single, Byron Reichstein watched Garret Day’s fifth pitch of the at bat sail wide of the plate for ball four. Tristan Osika scored, and the Majors improved to 9-4.

Reichstein finished with two RBI and Champ Garner drove in a run.

Christian Coombes (1-0) picked up the win in relief after allowing one of two Chatham runs in the top of the 10^th. Victor Payano started on the mound and went six innings, allowing three runs on eight hits with two walks and six strikeouts.

Day (0-1) was charged with the loss after he gave up a run on two hits and two walks in one-third of an inning. Eric Pettipiece started for the Barnstormers (5-9) and went four innings, yielding four runs (three earned) on three hits with two walks and a strikeout.

Offensively, Anthony Polowick drove in three on two hits. Robert Mackie had two RBI while Lee Kucera, Seth Strong and Braxton Haggith all had a pair of hits.
