Majors walk it off -- again
LONDON – Toby Simmons’ two-out triple in the bottom of the ninth scored two and gave London a 7-6 victory over Brantford on Sunday, the team’s third straight walk-off home win.
Ken Sugi, who had the winning hit on Friday, drove in two, Byron Reichstein went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Eduardo De Oleo hit a solo home run as the Majors moved to 12-5.
Skylar Janisse tossed two innings of relief for the win on the mound. He was one out from locking down a save when Brantford’s Max Schmarder hit a two-run blast to put the Red Sox ahead for the first time in the game. Janisse (5-1) walked one and struck out two.
London starter Travis Keys went six innings and gave up two runs on nine hits with a strikeout.
For Brantford (3-14), Christian Ortega, Cassidy Watt and Brody Black all had two hits and an RBI. Rene Tachioka singled and doubled.
On the mound, Leandro Mejia (0-1) was tagged with the loss after allowing a run on two hits in two-thirds of an inning. He walked one and struck out one. Connor Irvine started and went 6.2 innings, giving up four runs on five hits with three walks and six strikeouts.
