Majors win pitchers' duel
LONDON – London’s Victor Payano outdueled Guelph’s Jacob Kush in the Majors’ 2-1 win on Friday at Labatt Park.
Payano (3-1) out six over eight innings for the victory. He allowed a run on five hits and didn’t issue a walk. Skylar Janisse struck out two of three batters he faced for his fifth save.
Kush (2-3), meanwhile, gave up two runs (one earned) on eight hits over seven frames. He walked three and struck out seven.
Offensively, Byron Reichstein had two of London’s eight hits. Josh Niles’ RBI single scored Tucker Zdunich to tie the game in the sixth, and Francisco Fajardo scored the winning run on a wild pitch an inning later.
J.D. Williams drove in Guelph’s run with an RBI single in the fifth inning.
London improved to 14-8, and Guelph fell to 9-13.
