Majors score late to beat Panthers

LONDON – Gibson Krzeminski’s single in the bottom of the seventh scored Starling Joseph to break a 6-6 tie and send London to a 7-6 victory over Kitchener Friday night at Labatt Park.


Krzeminski finished with two hits and three RBI as the Majors moved to 17-8 overall and two games back of Welland for first place in the IBL.


Austin Wilkie and Jakob Newton each hit solo home runs in the win. Joseph had a pair of hits and scored twice, Daniel Perrier went 2-for-4 with two RBI and Keith Kandel added a pair of hits.


Braeden Ferrington (1-0) threw 3.2 innings of scoreless relief for the win. His only blemish was allowing one hit. He struck out one. Starter Owen Boon fanned 10 before exiting with one out in the sixth. He gave up six runs (five earned) on eight hits with three walks.


Brady Schnarr (0-3) took the loss for Kitchener (10-16), allowing a run on three hits over 2.2 innings. He struck out one. Brett Reid started and went 4.1 innings, giving up six runs on nine hits with two walks and three strikeouts.

Andy Leader drove in three of the Panthers’ runs. Blake Jacklin went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run, Jett Jarvis had two hits and scored twice and Liam Wilson went 2-for-4 with a run.
