Majors rally to stay undefeated
KITCHENER – London remains undefeated after rallying from an early five-run deficit to beat Kitchener 8-6 on Sunday at Jack Couch Park.
Eduardo De Oleo hit a game-tying two-run blast for London in the seventh inning. Adrian Harrison and Ty Mosher each hit solo home runs for the Majors (5-0). Kaiden Cardoso went 3-for-3 with an RBI, Francisco Fajardo drove in two on a pair of hits, Toby Simmons singled twice and scored twice, Brad Verhoeven went 3-for-4, and Ken Sugi had two hits and scored a run.
Jaryd Lund earned the win in relief, giving up a run on one hit in two innings. He struck out one. Skylar Janisse tossed a perfect ninth for the save. London starter Jose Arias lasted six innings and gave up five runs (three earned) on six hits over six innings. He walked two and fanned three.
Yosuke Fuji hit a pinch-hit solo home run for the Panthers (2-2). Charlie Towers, Yosvani Penalver, Yunior Ibarra and Trent Lawson all had an RBI. Kitchener leadoff hitter Yordan Manduley singled twice, scored twice and added a pair of stolen bases.
Yadian Martinez took the loss on the mound, giving up six runs (five earned) on eight hits in two innings. He walked one and struck out three. Panthers’ starting pitcher Evan Elliott gave up two runs on seven hits over five innings. He fanned five and walked three.
