Majors rally to beat Red Sox

BRANTFORD – The London Majors rallied from a pair of one-run deficits to beat the Brantford Red Sox 7-3 Wednesday night at Arnold Anderson Stadium.

London trailed 1-0 and 3-2 before pulling ahead for good with a three-run fifth. The teams will meet again Friday at Labatt Park.

Carlos Artega went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run for the Majors (5-9). Ismael Pena singled, doubled and drove in a run and scored, Byron Reichstein and Cleveland Brownlee each had an RBI, and Jonathan Duforest singled and scored twice.

Juliandry Higuera (3-2) struck out 11 over seven innings for the win, giving up three runs on four hits and four walks.

Fernando Suarez and Nick Zarzycki drove in the Red Sox runs. Nic Burdett scored twice. Michael Bannon (1-2) took the loss, allowing five runs on five hits in 4.2 innings. He walked three and struck out five.

Brantford (1-10) dropped its 10th straight.
