Majors rally late to beat Baycats

BARRIE – Better late than never for the London Majors.

Trailing by four with six outs left, the Majors scored nine straight runs in the last two innings of a 14-9 win Sunday in Barrie.

Victor Plaz went 4-for-5 with a home run and three RBI for London (7-3). Eduardo De Oleo also went deep and drove in two, and Byron Reichstein went 3-for-5 with a solo home run that started the rally in the eighth inning. Brad Verhoeven and Gibson Krzeminski each had a pair of RBI on two hits apiece, and Kaiden Cardoso and Starling Joseph both drove in a run.  

Braeden Ferrington (1-0) struck out two in a scoreless eighth inning for the win. Christian Coombes started and went 3.2 innings, allowing four runs on two hits with four walks and two strikeouts.

Rick Phillips went 3-for-5 with two RBI, two steals and two runs to lead the Baycats (7-3). Canice Ejoh drove in a run on two hits, Noah Hull and Hayden Jaco each drove in a run and combined to score five times, and Carson Burns picked up an RBI.

Barrie reliever Brad Grieveson (1-1) was saddled with the loss after allowing four runs on four hits in one-third of an inning. Carlos Sano started for the Baycats and gave up an earned run on three hits over five innings. He walked four and fanned two.
