Majors Keep Hold on First Place with Win over Baycats

BARRIE – Jose Arias improved his record to 10-1 in London Majors’ 9-2 victory over the Barrie Baycats on Saturday evening. The Majors win maintained their hold on first place with a 29-10 record. Barrie fell to 21-19 in fifth place.
Arias pitched seven innings, allowing two runs on seven hits with three walks and eight strikeouts.
At the plate, Starling Joseph had three hits including two doubles and a three-run home run in the fifth inning while league batting leader Robert Mullen had two hits including a two-run homer in the first inning. Taylor Wright also added two hits.
For Barrie, Carson Burns and Branfy Infante had two hits each with Infante adding two RBI’s. Juan Benitez (6-6) took the loss, going 4 2/3 innings while allowing seven hits and six runs, all earned, with two walks and five strikeouts.
