Majors hand Baycats first loss
BARRIE – London’s offence pounded out 16 hits and cruised to a 12-2 win Saturday in Barrie.
Robert Mullen went 3-for-5 with a solo home run for the Majors (3-1). Cleveland Brownlee singled, homered and drove in three, Keith Kandel hit a solo blast, Andrew Lawrence went 3-for-6 atop the London lineup, driving in three and scoring three times. Chris McQueen had an RBI and scored twice, Starling Joseph had two hits and a run, while Evan Symons and Phil Whelan each drove in a run.
Jose Arias (1-0) picked up the win, striking out eight over seven scoreless innings. He scattered four hits and walked three.
Brandon Hillier went 3-for-4 with a run for the Baycats (4-1). Ryan Rijo had an RBI and Mike Suwyn picked up a pair of hits.
Juan Benitez (0-1) took the loss, allowing seven runs on seven hits over 3.2 innings. He walked four and struck out two.
