Majors hammer Red Sox

LONDON – A nine-run sixth inning blew open what had been a tight game between the London Majors and Brantford Red Sox Friday at Labatt Park.


London turned a 6-2 lead into a 15-2 advantage and cruised to a 20-4 win.


Taylor Wright went 4-for-5 with five RBI and three runs to lead the first-place Majors (28-10). Starling Joseph and Kieran Bowles each had two hits, two runs and two RBI, Robert Mullen hit a grand slam, Jakob Newton had two hits, three runs and an RBI, Cleveland Brownlee and Phil Whelan both drove in a run, and Andrew Lawrence singled twice and scored twice.


Bo Lewington (1-1) went six innings for the win. He was touched for two runs on seven hits with a walk and five strikeouts.


Bennett Moore (0-9) took the loss for Brantford (2-34). He allowed six runs on seven hits over five innings with two walks and seven strikeouts.


Jon Dziomba singled and added a solo home run in defeat. Nick Burdett and Spencer Jamieson each had a pair of hits while Liam Sutherland went 3-for-5 with a run. Nolan Gallagher had the other RBI.
