Majors enter playoffs with shutout win

LONDON – The London Majors will enter the playoffs on a high note after a 6-0 win over the Brantford Red Sox Saturday night at Labatt Park.

Carlos Arteaga drove in a run and scored twice for sixth-place London (18-18), which will face Hamilton in the first round of playoffs. Ismael Pena had three RBI, Evan Britt drove in a run, and Yuki Yusada scored twice.

Matt Balkwill (1-0) earned the win with three innings of scoreless relief. He scattered two hits and struck out three.

Nick Davies (0-1) took the loss, allowing three runs on four hits with a strikeout in two innings.

Offensively, Doug Parks had two of Brantford's four hits.

The last-place Red Sox (5-31) will face Barrie or Kitchener in the first round.
