Majors ensure top-three finish

LONDON – London ensured a top-three finish with a 5-4 win over Chatham-Kent on Friday night at Labatt Park.  

Tucker Zdunich went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two-run single for the Majors (24-17), who are in second place with one game remaining. London can finish no lower than third entering playoffs. Kyle Maves and Francisco Fajardo also drove in a run.  

London starting pitcher Travis Keys (5-3) allowed two runs over seven innings for the win. He scattered six hits, walked two and fanned five.  

Skylar Janisse picked up the save after giving up a run on two hits and a walk in the ninth. He stranded the bases loaded to lock up his 12th save. 

Yushin Ohta homered to lead off the ninth for the fourth-place Barnstormers (22-19). Evan Morrison went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Victor Plaz singled and doubled.  

Mizuki Akatsuka (6-5) took the loss on the mound. He was charged with three runs (two earned) on five hits in five innings. He walked two and struck out four.
