Majors edge Cards in opener

LONDON – London jumped out to an early three-run lead and held on for a 3-2 series-opening win over Hamilton on Friday at Labatt Park.

Victor Plaz went 3-for-3 with a home run and two RBI for the Majors. Byron Reichstein drove in the other run, and Eduardo De Oleo singled twice.

London led 3-0 through four innings before Hamilton scored twice in the fifth, as the Cards took advantage of two London errors. Luis Bernardo had a sacrifice fly and Keelor Loveridge scored on a wild pitch.

Takaki Eguchi (0-1) was saddled with the loss after giving up three runs on three hits over 3.2 innings. He walked three and fanned five.
