Majors edge Cards in extras

LONDON – Champ Garner scored on an error in the bottom of the 11th inning of London’s 6-5 win over Hamilton on Sunday at Labatt Park.  

The teams traded leads all afternoon, with Hamilton pulling ahead by two in the top of the 10th. London tied it in the bottom half, and Majors’ reliever Skylar Janisse held the Cardinals scoreless in the 11th. Janisse (3-1) tossed two innings to earn the win. He gave up a pair of unearned runs, walked three and struck out two. Victor Payano started and pitched seven innings, allowing three runs on seven hits with 10 strikeouts.  

Offensively, Eduardo De Oleo drove in three on a pair of hits. Byron Reichstein and Josh Niles each had an RBI, Francisco Fajardo went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs and two steals, and Tucker Zdunich singled twice and swiped his first bag of the season.  

Josh Williams singled and homered for Hamilton (5-6). Jaden Brown and Tommy Reyes-Cruz each had two hits and an RBI, and Yolki Pena went 3-for-4.  

Chris Boatto (0-1) allowed an unearned run in one-third of an inning to take the loss. Hamilton starter Freisis Adames lasted five innings and gave up three runs (two earned) on seven hits. He walked three and struck out two.
