Majors double Royals

LONDON – The London Majors doubled the Guelph Royals 6-3 Friday night at Labatt Park.

Yuki Yasuda hit a solo home run – his first for London – and Cleveland Brownlee went 2-for-4 with a home run. Byron Reichstein drove in two, Mike Ambrose singled twice and scored, Kyle Gormandy added two hits, and Carlos Arteaga and Ismael Pena both had a hit and scored.

Juliandry Higuera (5-4) went 6.1 innings for the win, yielding three runs on six hits with three walks and five strikeouts. Jon Fitzsimmons struck out six in 2.2 scoreless innings of relief for his third save.

Royals starter Yunior Yambatis (1-4) went six innings, giving up six runs on 10 hits with a walk and three strikeouts.

Offensively, Justin Interisano doubled and drove in two, while Angel Villalona had three hits and scored. Sean Reilly and Ethan Hammond both had a hit and a run.

Both teams are now 15-17.
