Majors’ De Oleo comes up big in extras

GUELPH – Eduardo De Oleo’s base hit up the middle scored a pair of runs in the top of the 10th inning and was the difference in London’s 6-4 win over Guelph on Wednesday night.

De Oleo finished with two hits and three RBI as the Majors (24-15) moved two games up on the Royals for third place.

Kaiden Cardoso went 3-for-4 with an RBI in the win, and Starling Joseph put London on the board with an RBI single in the second inning.

Jaryd Lund struck out two in a scoreless inning of relief to earn the save. Majors’ pitcher Alex Springer started and went 3.2 innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits with a walk and three strikeouts. Skylar Janisse picked up the win after two scoreless frames in which he walked one and struck out three.

The loss was Guelph’s fourth straight, dropping the team to 22-17. Andy Leader went 4-for-6 with an RBI. Conner Morro drove in two runs on a pair of hits, Evan Ashe added an RBI, and J.D. Williams and Ethan Hammond each had a pair of hits.

Yuki Narita (4-2) allowed two unearned runs in the loss. He threw the last two innings, walking three and fanning four. Royals’ starter Evan Grills struck out nine over eight innings. He gave up four runs (three earned) on nine hits without issuing a walk.
