London wins slugfest in Chatham
CHATHAM – The ball was flying Tuesday night at Fergie Jenkins field as the London Majors hit four of the game’s five home runs in a 15-12 win over the Chatham-Kent Barnstormers.
Eduardo De Oleo connected for two of the Majors’ longballs, driving in four and scoring three times. Champ Garner drilled a three-run blast for London, while Kaiden Cardoso hit a two-run blast as London moved to 4-0 in 2024.
Starling Joseph went 3-for-6 with two RBI and two runs, Byron Reichstein had a pair of hits and an RBI, Tommy Reyes-Cruz drove in a run and Victor Plaz went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs.
Jaryd Lund (1-0) earned the win in relief, giving up two runs on four hits over 4.2 innings. He walked three and fanned six. Majors’ starter Daniel Gore yielded seven runs on six hits with a walk and two strikeouts.
For Chatham-Kent (2-1), cleanup hitter Seth Strong went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and two runs. Daniel Battel had two hits, two RBI and two runs, Braxton Haggith and Anthony Polowick each had two hits and an RBI, Mitsuki Fukuda had a pair of RBI and Lee Kucera reached base twice and scored twice.
Robert Mackie (0-1) took the loss after giving up eight runs (seven earned) on six hits over 3.1 innings. He walked three and struck out one.
