Leafs win in Kitchener
KITCHENER – Toronto (12-13) inched closer to .500 with a 9-5 win Sunday in Kitchener.
Dennis Dei Baning drove in four runs, with three coming on a seventh-inning blast. Benjamin Sitarenios went 3-for-4 with two RBI, and Ryan Dos Santos and Jhon Javier both drove in a run.
Drew Howard (2-2) allowed three runs on four hits over three innings of relief for the win. He walked five and fanned five. Luis Florentino started and went five innings. He was charged with two runs on seven hits, a walk and four punchouts.
Yunior Ibarra went 3-for-4 with two RBI for the Panthers (9-15). Yosuke Fujie had two hits and an RBI. He also had one of five Kitchener stolen bases. Runta Osawa singled twice.
Kade Kozak (0-1) suffered the loss after yielding three runs on one hit and two walks without getting an out. Owen MacNeil started and went six innings, giving up two runs on three hits with five walks and 11 strikeouts.
