Leafs take down Royals
GUELPH – Toronto scored twice in the seventh inning to break a 1-1 tie and roll to a 6-1 win in Guelph on Saturday.
Dionysius Chialtas drove in Dan Marra with a triple to score the first seventh-inning run. Chialtas came around to score on a Justin Marra single two batters later.
Marcus Knecht drove in two on a pair of hits, Ryan Dos Santos had an RBI and two steals, and Jordan Castaldo went 2-for-5 and scored twice.
Max Lanoue (1-0) picked up the win in relief with two scoreless innings. He walked one and fanned five. Julian Valdez recorded the last six outs for his first save. Marek Deska started for Toronto and went five innings, yielding a run on five hits with a walk and strikeout.
The Leafs improved to 4-7.
For Guelph (5-2), Brando Leroux drove in the only run on two hits. Evan Ashe went 3-for-3.
Rhys Montgomery (1-1) allowed two runs on five hits over two innings to take the loss. He struck out two.
Jacob Kush lasted six innings and gave up a run on three hits with four walks and eight strikeouts.
