Leafs take 2-0 lead over Baycats

BARRIE – Toronto knocked out 17 hits and rolled to a 6-3 win over Barrie Saturday afternoon in Game 2 of the IBL quarter-final.


Toronto can wrap up the best-of-five series Sunday afternoon at home.


Damon Topolie went 3-for-5 with two RBI in the victory. Connor Lewis had three hits, an RBI and two runs, Johnathan Solazzo went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run, Marcus Knecht had three hits and scored once and Dan Marra drove in a run.


Dylan Jacober earned the win in relief, giving up a run on four hits with two strikeouts over three innings. Franklin Hernandez struck out one in a scoreless ninth for the save. Dustin Richardson started and went four innings, allowing a run on three hits with seven strikeouts.


Branfy Infante went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run for the Baycats. Ryan Rijo hit a solo home run and James Anderson added an RBI.


Brad Grieveson took the loss, allowing three runs on 12 hits over five innings. He walked one and struck out one.
