Leafs' offence erupts against Panthers

KITCHENER – Toronto hitters racked up 18 runs on 16 hits in a win over Kitchener Thursday night at Jack Couch Park.

Aidan McAskie and Justin Marra each went deep twice in the 18-6 victory. McAskie finished with three hits, driving in six and scoring three times, while Marra drove in four and scored twice.

Jose Vinicio went 3-for-5 with three RBI and three runs, Jordan Castaldo had two hits, including his third home run, two RBI and four runs, Luca Boscarino and Grant Tamane added an RBI apiece, while Yusei Teroka and Connor Lewis combined to score five times.

Ryan Wells (1-0) pitched three innings of scoreless relief to earn the win. He scattered two hits, walking three and striking out one. Zach Sloan started and went four innings, giving up a run on three hits with three walks and three strikeouts.

Stephen Whalen led the Panthers with a home run, part of a three-hit game, four RBI and two runs. Kenny DiClemente drove in the other run.

Andy Leader went 2-for-3 with a run.

Brady Schnarr took the loss, allowing five runs on six hits over two innings. He walked two and struck out one. 

Toronto improved to 8-6 and Kitchener fell to 5-6.
