Leafs offence comes alive against Baycats
TORONTO – Toronto pounded out 18 hits on its way to 12-3 win over Barrie Wednesday night at Christie Pits.
Justin Marra and Luca Boscarino each went deep for the Maple Leafs (19-12). Marra’s 11th home run was a solo shot, while Boscarino’s first of the season was a three-run blast.
Jose Vinicio had two hits and an RBI, Johnathan Solazzo went 2-for-4 and scored twice, Aidan McAskie plated a pair of runs, Connor Lewis went 3-for-5 with two RBI and a run, Dan Marra had three hits and scored three times, Damon Topolie went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run and Greg Carrington drove in a run.
Zach Sloan (4-2) picked up the win, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits over five innings. He walked one and struck out six.
Baycats’ starter Adam Khan (3-3) was lifted with two outs in the fourth after giving up seven runs on 12 hits with a walk and strikeout.
Offensively, Ryan Rijo went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. Owen Jansen and Jake Wilson each had a hit and scored.
Barrie fell to 18-14.
