Leafs' Lewis walks-off Red Sox
TORONTO – Connor Lewis drilled a three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth to give Toronto a 4-3 win over Brantford on Sunday at Christie Pits.
After Jordan Castaldo flew out to start the inning, Justin Marra and Marcus Knecht both reached on errors, setting up Lewis’ dramatics on a 1-2 pitch.
Knecht drove in the other run, and Cole Murchison had two hits as the seventh-place Leafs moved to 16-23.
Adam Marra picked up the win after throwing a scoreless ninth inning. Angel Castro went the first seven innings and yielded three runs (one earned) on seven hits over seven innings. He walked three and struck out 11.
Nick Burdett drove in two for Brantford (10-28). Roger Keen had an RBI, and Jaret Lupton singled twice.
Josh Laukkanen (2-5) took the loss after giving up three unearned runs in 1.1 innings of relief. He scattered three hits and struck out two.
