Leafs beat Barnstormers

TORONTO – Toronto moved back to .500 following Sunday’s 5-2 home win over Chatham-Kent.  

Jhon Javier hit a solo home run for the Leafs (7-7), and teammate Kalayo Shaw went deep with a runner on base. Jordan Castaldo, Spenser Ross both drove in a run, and Marcus Knecht went 2-for-4.  

Toronto’s Josh Berenbaum (2-2) tossed five innings for the win. He was charged with two runs on nine hits and five punchouts. Adam Jafine worked around an error and a single to earn his first save of the season. 

For Chatham-Kent (7-6), Spencer Marcus and Mitsuki Fukada each had two hits and an RBI as the team's win streak ended at five. Evan Morrison raked with three hits atop the Barnstormers’ lineup.  

Mizuki Akatsuka (1-2) went six innings on the mound for Hamilton, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits. He struck out five and walked two.
