Leafs’ bats come alive late in Brantford
BRANTFORD – Toronto scored three times apiece in the seventh and eighth innings and held on for an 8-7 win in Brantford Friday night at Arnold Anderson Stadium.
Jordan Castaldo and Ryan Dos Santos each had three hits and an RBI for the Leafs (15-23). Jose Vinicio went 3-for-3 with two walks atop the lineup.
Sam Greene (3-2) earned the win with five innings of relief. He allowed a run on four hits with a walk and six strikeouts. Starting pitcher Landon Leach gave up three runs on one hit with five walks and one strikeout.
For Brantford, Gus Wilson went 3-for-5. Marcos Castillo had two hits and an RBI, and Mike Dorcean drove in the other run. Matthew Fabian reached base three times and also scored three runs.
Damian Clarke (0-2) took the loss on the mound, allowing three runs on three hits without registering an out. Starter Ricardo Alvarez DeLugo lasted six innings and gave up two runs on six hits with three walks and seven punchouts.
The Red Sox dropped to 10-26.
