Knecht, Solazzo lead Leafs past Sox

BRANTFORD – Marcus Knecht and Jonathan Solazzo each drove in three to lead the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 10-3 win over the Brantford Red Sox Friday night at Arnold Anderson Stadium.

Knecht went 4-for-5 with two singles and two doubles while scoring twice, and Solazzo had two hits – including his ninth home run of the season. Justin Marra also went deep and singled. He drove in two and scored twice.

Dan Marra singled three times and scored, Ryan Johnston had two hits, an RBI and a run, Damon Topolie singled twice, and Ryan Santos scored twice.

Alberto Tirado (1-3) struck out nine over seven innings for the win. He allowed three runs on two hits but was hurt by five walks.

Anthony Rizquez had two hits and an RBI for the Red Sox (4-25).

Abel De Los Santos (0-5) surrendered eight runs (four earned) on 10 hits with a walk and four strikeouts in six innings.
