Keys leads Majors past Baycats
LONDON – Travis Keys struck out eight over seven shutout innings to lead London to a 3-0 win over Barrie on Friday night at Labatt Park.
The Majors’ pitcher scattered four hits and walked one. Reliever Victor Payano worked around a hit and a walk in the ninth to preserve the win.
Cleveland Brownlee and Kaiden Cardoso each had two hits and an RBI. Eduardo De Oleo went 2-for-4 with a run, and Victor Plaz added an RBI.
Brandon Hernandez had two of Barrie’s six hits. Adam Odd added a double.
Losing pitcher Frank Garces (7-1) tossed all eight innings and allowed three runs on nine hits with five strikeouts.
London (21-13) is trying to keep up with Guelph, Barrie and Welland atop the IBL standings. Barrie dropped to 24-13.
