Jafine goes the distance in Red Sox win
WELLAND -- Brantford's Adam Jafine needed 155 pitches to go the distance in a complete-game 7-3 road victory over Welland Thursday night.
Jafine (1-0) allowed three runs (one earned) on three hits with six walks and seven strikeouts.
Liam Sutherland's two-run blast in the eighth put the game away for the Red Sox (3-6), who won their second straight. Michael Deluca singled, doubled and drove in two, and Gianfranco Morello had a pair of RBI on two sacrifice flies.
Tony Kwon and Nolan Pettipiece each singled and scored for the Jackfish (3-7). Chris Boatto (2-2) took the loss, giving up seven runs (six earned) on nine hits in 7.2 innings. He walked one and fanned six.
