Jackfish wins third straight
BRANTFORD – Welland's win streak hit three games with a 16-8 win Sunday afternoon in Brantford.
Brendan Luther went 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and two stolen bases for the first-place Jackfish (17-6), which leads Chatham-Kent by three games.
Greyson Barrett also had three hits and drove in three while scoring three times. Robert Mullen, Matteo Porcellato, Joshua Marchese and Ethan Hunt all drove in two.
Welland starting pitcher Teodoro Ortega (4-0) went six innings for the win. He allowed three runs on eight hits and struck out six.
For Brantford (6-18), Rene Tachioka went 4-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. He also scored three times. Graham Tebbit hit a three-run blast, Cassidy Watt had three hits and two RBI, Brody Black went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Jeremie Veilleux drove in a run.
On the mound, Connor Irvine (1-3) took the loss after allowing 10 runs (nine earned) on five hits in 3.1 innings. He walked six and struck out three.
