Jackfish wins seventh straight

GUELPH – The Welland Jackfish stayed red hot Saturday, beating Guelph 14-6 for its seventh straight win.

Greyson Barrett did most of the damage for the Jackfish (10-3), going 3-for-4 with five RBI. Robert Mullen homered and drove in two, Matteo Porcellato singled and added a solo home run, Dawson Tweet picked up three RBI, and Tyler Dupuis drove in a run.

Welland starting pitcher Brandon Marklund (1-0) was dealing, allowing a run on one hit with three strikeouts over five innings.

For Guelph (6-3), Josh Garton homered and drove in three. J.D. Williams and Jeff MacLeod had an RBI apiece, and Ryosuke Ohashi singled, doubled and scored twice.

Jacob Kush made it through four innings to take the loss. He yielded four runs on five hits in four innings. He walked two and struck out four.
