Jackfish wins fourth straight
WELLAND – Robert Mullen homered and drove in three as Welland beat Kitchener 11-5 on Saturday for its fourth straight victory.
Mullen also singled and doubled in the Jackfish’s 16-hit attack in front of 1,825 fans at home. Dawson Tween went 3-for-5 with three RBI, Tyson Gomm and Ethan Hunt each had two hits and drove in a pair of runs, Steven Moretto added an RBI and Tyler Dupuis and Caleb Feuerstake had two hits apiece.
Welland righty Enrique Saldana (1-0) allowed two runs in seven innings for the win. He scattered eight hits and struck out one as the Jackfish improved to 7-3.
For Kitchener (2-7), Simon Grinberg and Nick Parsons each drove in two runs. Jorden Carthy went 3-for-4 with two runs and Jett Jarvis and Stephen Whalen each picked up two hits.
Pedro De Los Santos (0-1) took the loss, giving up four runs on eight hits over 3.2 innings. He fanned four.
