Jackfish Walk Over Red Sox 14-5

BRANTFORD – Matt Hilderbrandt with three hits and two RBI’s and Ethan Hunt with a pair of hits and two RBI’s led the Welland Jackfish to a 14-5 win over the winless Brantford Red Sox on Saturday night at Arnold Anderson Stadium.

The Jackfish jumped out to an 11-0 lead by the fourth inning before Brantford got on the scoreboard. Matteo Porcellato added two hits while Sam Cawker, Brandon Nicholson and  James Smibert each drove in two runs.

Winning pitcher Rich Corrente (2-0) went six innings, allowing four runs on 10 hits with two strikeouts. Garrett Larner (0-2) took the loss with five innings pitched, 13 runs allowed (only six earned) on nine hits with two walks and four strikeouts.

Colton Fountain had two hits and two RBI’s for Brantford while Troy Banks, Jon Dziomba and Liam Sutherland each had two hits.

First place Welland is now 11-2 and Brantford is still winless at 0-13.
