Jackfish snaps three-game skid

TORONTO – Welland snapped a three-game losing streak with a 14-2 win Sunday afternoon in Toronto.
James Smibert went 5-for-6 with a home run and three RBI for the Jackfish (13-5). Hogan Brown drove in two, Sam Cawker and Matt Hilderbrandt each had two hits, an RBI and a run, Zarley Cina, Matteo Porcellato and Cole Cote all drove in a run, Gianfranco Morello had two hits and a run and Brandon Nicholson scored twice.
Rich Corrente (3-0) gave up two runs over 6.2 innings to earn the win. He scattered nine hits and walked two while striking out three.
Angel Castro (0-1) took the loss, yielding 10 runs (five earned) on 10 hits over four innings. He walked one and struck out two.
Jordan Castaldo went 2-for-3 with an RBI and Johnathan Solazzo drove in the other run. Grant Tamane, Connor Lewis and Jose Vinicio all had a pair of hits.
Toronto fell to 11-7.
