Jackfish sign St. Louis Cardinals Draft Pick DeAndre Asbury-Heath
WELLAND – The Welland Jackfish, members of the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) today announced the signing of St. Louis Cardinals draft pick DeAndre Asbury-Heath for the 2019 season.
DeAndre, a 23-year-old Columbia, South Carolina native joins the Jackfish after finishing the 2018 season with the Brantford Red Sox. In seventeen games played, DeAndre recorded an impressive .344 average with eight home runs a double and thirteen RBI.
“I am excited to be a part of the Jackfish and am looking forward to winning and putting on a show for the Welland community” said Asbury-Heath.
A 15th round MLB draft pick in 2013 by the St. Louis Cardinals, DeAndre would suit up for the Johnson City Cardinals (Cardinals Rookie league affiliate) for the 2014 and 2015 seasons. With Johnson City, he would record fourteen doubles, five triples and twenty-three RBI over two seasons.
