Jackfish Sign First Baseman Hilderbrandt
WELLAND – The Welland Jackfish, members of the Intercounty Baseball League, announced today the signing of first baseman Matt Hilderbrandt for the 2020 season.
Hilderbrandt, a big 6-4, 270 lbs slugger joins the Jackfish following an impressive college career with Limestone College. Appearing in 45 games for the Saints in 2019, Matt recorded 39 hits with 4 doubles, 10 home runs and 29 RBI. The Bowmanville, Ontario native led the Saints with 10 multi-RBI games and was second in home runs.
“Looking past the physicality of the 6’4” 270lb Hilderbrandt, what drew us to Matt is his work ethic and mental toughness” said Jackfish General Manager Jason McKay. “The former Toronto Met left his junior college after two years leading all-time in-home run’s with twenty and followed it up belting ten in his first season at Limestone. He brings legit power from the left side and soft hands defensively; we are excited to have Matt join us as we have had success with ball players from Bowmanville. “
The Welland Jackfish open their 2020 season at home on Saturday, May 16th versus the London Majors. Season tickets are on sale now by visiting www.wellandjackfish.com or calling 905-736-1346.
