Jackfish Sign All-Star Vaughn Bryan

WELLAND – The Welland Jackfish, members of the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) today announced the signing of center-fielder Vaughn Bryan for the 2019 season.

The Sunrise, Florida native hit .333 with the Burlington Herd last season, hitting three home runs, driving in 15 RBIs, and a team high four triples.

“Vaughn Bryan is a legit five-tool player with his speed being maybe the best in the IBL” said Jackfish General Manager Jason McKay. “Vaughn’s arm strength and fielding is what made him a “AA” professional center-fielder and being able to hit for average and power from both sides of the plate is what makes him even more of a threat.”

The speedy center-fielder was a threat on the base paths stealing twelve bags.

Bryan’s success in the IBL earned him a spot on the 2018 IBL First Team All-Stars.

“We will be moving Vaughn to center-field this season after agreeing to move to right as we had perennial all-star Justin Gideon there.” “Vaughn is a real team player and we are excited to watch him patrol the outfielder at Welland Stadium in 2019.”

Before joining the Herd last season, Bryan suited up for the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks of the Independent American Association. Drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 35th round of the 2013 MLB June Amateur Draft, Vaughn would play for the Springfield Cardinals of the double A Texas League.
