Jackfish knocks off Majors in five

WELLAND – The Welland Jackfish are moving on after an 11-7 win over the London Majors in Game 5 of their best-of-seven quarter-final Tuesday night. 

Welland scored six times in the sixth inning to erase a two-run deficit. The Jackfish will face either Barrie or Hamilton in the semifinal depending on the outcome of the Kitchener/Toronto series, which the Panthers lead 2-1. 

DeAndre Asbury-Heath went 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBI. Wilson Soriano singled three times and scored twice while driving in a run, Brendon Dadson went 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs, Mattingly Romanin scored twice, Bryce O'Farrell had an RBI, Nolan Pettipiece added two singles, and Andrew Mercier drove in a run and scored. 

Chris Boatto (1-0) earned the win with two innings of shutout relief. He scattered three hits and struck out two. He took over for Matthew Clingersmith, who allowed seven runs (four earned) on seven hits and a walk in five innings. 

For London, Myles Miller had three hits and two runs, Yuki Yasuda drove in a run and scored twice, Ismael Pena had a pair of RBI, and Josh Williams went 2-for-5 with two RBI. 

Owen Boon (0-2) took the loss, allowing five runs on five hits in 3.2 innings. He walked two and struck out five. Starter Migel Burgos went two innings and gave up five runs on five hits with a walk and strikeout.
