Jackfish hammers Baycats
WELLAND – Welland’s offence came alive in a 15-1 home win over Barrie on Saturday.
Jonah Weisner went 3-for-5 with three RBI for the first-place Jackfish (26-10). James Smibert doubled twice, singled twice and drove in two, Brendan Luther drove in three on a pair of hits, Brandon Hupe had two RBI, Gianfranco Morello, Robert Mullen and Thomas Green all drove in a run, and Greyson Barrett hit a solo home run.
Welland pitcher Ben Abram (6-2) allowed a run on three hits over seven innings for the win. He fanned five.
Cesar Rosado (4-4) took the loss after allowing nine runs on eight hits in 4.2 innings. He walked six and struck out four.
At the plate, Noah Hull had two of Barrie’s five hits and drove in the lone run.
The Baycats dropped to 21-15.
