Jackfish bounces back to even series

KITCHENER – One day after dropping the series opener at home, defending champion Welland responded with a 14-1 win in Kitchener on Friday night.

Jonah Weisner was a menace at the top of the Jackfish lineup, going 5-for-7 with three RBI and a run. Dawson Tweet went 3-for-4 with an RBI and three runs, Gianfranco Morello and Greyson Barrett each had two hits and an RBI, Steven Moretto drove in a run and scored twice, and Robert Mullen went 2-for-4 with two runs.

Teodoro Ortega (1-0) limited Kitchener to one run on five hits over seven innings. He walked one and struck out six.

For Kitchener, Raul Gonzalez went 3-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI.

Jose Vasquez (0-1) went three innings and yielded eight runs on 11 hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
