In Memoriam - Bob McKillop
The Intercounty Baseball League extends its condolences to the family of former Kitchener Panther legend Bob McKillop, who passed away on Saturday.
Bob McKillop played for the Panthers from 1966 to 1977, coming to Kitchener after four seasons in the Chicago White Sox Organization. McKillop was both a catcher and a pitcher and was an All-Star at both positions. McKillop was an eight-time IBL All-Star catcher, the IBL Batting Champion in 1969 (.381), and also won three Home Run titles.
In 1966, McKillop was the IBL ERA leader (0.93). McKillop was the Panthers' Playing Manager, leading Kitchener to IBL Championships in the late 1960s. In 1967, McKillop represented Team Canada at the Pan Am Games. McKillop was the IBL MVP 4 times: 1968, 1969, 1971, 1973. McKillop was selected in 2018 as one of the Top 100 IBL Players of All Time. His number 9 has also been retired by the Kitchener Panthers.
Following Bob’s career, he gave back to the K-W community as an educator at WCI and the University of Waterloo. Bob was very active in Kitchener Minor Baseball.
