IBL Power Rankings - Week Three

One month into the 2025 IBL season, the standings are starting to take shape—but don’t let the early records fool you. Some teams are just getting healthy, others are finding their identity, and a few have already made strong statements. With top-tier matchups and dramatic comebacks this past week, the power rankings reflect both performance and potential as we head into June.

1. Welland Jackfish (6–0)

Last Week: Tied for 1st
Off to the best start in franchise history, the Jackfish are running like a well-oiled machine. Their explosive offense can hang crooked numbers in a hurry, while their pitching has smothered every opponent through six games. Right now, there’s no more complete team in the league.   Week ahead: at Barrie Thursday,  vs London Saturday,  at Toronto Sunday.

2. Guelph Royals (4–2)

Last Week: 3rd
Winners of four straight, including victories over London and Hamilton, the Royals are heating up. Their offense has been balanced and effective, and their rotation has done exactly what's been asked. Manager Dino Roumel has been using these early games to get everyone reps, and with reinforcements coming—catcher Franklin Torres and ace Claudio Custodio are set to join—the Royals are only going to get stronger.    Week Ahead :  vs. Chatham-Kent Tuesday,  at Toronto Friday,  vs. Kitchener Saturday  at Kitchener Sunday.

3. Hamilton Cardinals (3–2)

Last Week: 4th
The Cardinals made a statement with back-to-back wins over the defending champs before stumbling in Guelph. Sunday's loss highlighted some pitching struggles, particularly with command. While their overall run production might not wow, it’s important to consider the quality of pitching they’ve faced so far—this is a team built to compete.  Week Ahead :  at Kitchener Thursday,  vs. Kitchener Friday,   vs. Chatham-Kent Sunday.

4. Toronto Maple Leafs (4–3)

Last Week: 9th
Toronto surged up the rankings after a bounce-back week, notching wins over Kitchener and London and pulling off a dramatic comeback against Brantford. The veteran-heavy squad is starting to click, and Sunday’s thriller on the hill could be a turning point. Week Ahead :  vs. Guelph Friday,  at Chatham-Kent Saturday,  vs. Welland Sunday.

5. London Majors (6–3)

Last Week: Tied for 1st
After a strong start, the Majors stumbled against some top-tier competition. Playing four games in one week tested their pitching depth, but Sunday’s walk-off win may help reset the tone heading into June. Still a contender, but not invincible.  Week Ahead :  vs.Barrie Friday, at Welland Saturday, at Brantford Sunday.

6. Chatham-Kent Barnstormers (2–5)

Last Week: 5th
The league’s newest team continues to battle hard every inning but hasn’t yet found consistency. Pitching has struggled to hold leads, but there are encouraging signs at the plate. If the Barnstormers can tighten things up on the mound, they’ll start converting close games into wins. Week Ahead :  at Guelph Tuesday,  at Brantford Friday, vs. Toronto Satuday,  at Hamilton Sunday.

7. Barrie Baycats (2–5)

Last Week: 6th
Barrie’s offense woke up in a big way on Thursday and Sunday, though they ran into elite starting pitching on Friday and Saturday while missing key bats. Early-season inconsistencies aren’t unusual for this club, but the Baycats have the talent to climb back into the mix quickly. Week Ahead :  vs.Welland Thursday, at London Friday.

8. Kitchener Panthers (3–4)

Last Week: 7th
Kitchener remains tough to peg. Pitching at Jack Couch Park is never easy, but it needs to be better if they want to contend. Offensively, they’ve been inconsistent—flashing power one day, going quiet the next. The pieces are there; they just haven’t clicked yet.  Week Ahead :  vs.Hamilton Thursday, at Hamilton Friday, at Guelph Saturday, vs. Guelph Sunday.

9. Brantford Red Sox (1–7)

Last Week: 8th
Their record doesn’t tell the full story. Brantford has shown flashes of potential, but struggles to get all facets of the game firing at once. Sunday's blown lead against Toronto stung, but if they can find some rhythm, this group is capable of making noise later in the season. Week Ahead :  vs. Chatham-Kent Friday,  at London Sunday.
