IBL POWER RANKINGS WEEK 15

Every week, a panel of IBL media experts will submit their power rankings. These submissions will be averaged to determine the official power rankings for that week. This week's rankings recap the 2024 regular season for each team.

Welland Jackfish - Welland has been the standout team of the season once again, finishing with a flourish by securing the pennant with six consecutive wins. Their dominance was evident throughout, with a formidable roster headlined by ace Ben Abram. The Jackfish's balanced lineup and solid pitching depth make them the team to beat as they head into the playoffs. Team MVP - C Robert Mullen

Barrie Baycats - Barrie has turned around a slower start to finish strong, locking in second place and home-field advantage for the playoffs. Their pitching has been consistently solid, and their offence has shown flashes of brilliance despite occasional cold spells. With a solid rotation and a dynamic lineup, the Baycats are well-positioned for a deep playoff run. Team MVP - OF Canice Ejoh

London Majors - London has shown resilience throughout the season, finishing in the top three despite some inconsistencies. Their pitching staff is strong, though it may be fatigued from a compressed schedule. With their hitters returning to form, the Majors have the potential to make a significant impact in the playoffs. Team MVP - P Travis Keys

Guelph Royals - Guelph’s pitching has been their biggest asset, leading the league in ERA. They’ve recovered well from a rough patch to secure a top-four finish. Home field during the first round will serve them well, as opposed to playing the majority of the first round at a hitter-friendly Fergie Jenkins Field. Team MVP - P Jacob Kush

Chatham-Kent Barnstormers - Chatham-Kent has made a memorable debut season, finishing with 20 wins and an impressive offensive display. Their ability to score runs, led by the league’s top home run hitter Seth Strong, makes them a formidable underdog. Their pitching will need to rise to the occasion for them to advance in the playoffs. Team MVP - IF Seth Strong

Hamilton Cardinals - Hamilton struggled towards the end of the season, including a three-game losing streak. Despite having a capable pitching staff, their lack of offensive support has been a recurring issue. They’ll need to find their rhythm quickly to be competitive in the playoffs. Team MVP - OF Tyler Duncan

Toronto Maple Leafs - Toronto managed to secure the seventh spot and demonstrated that they can turn it up in the postseason. Despite finishing with some tough losses, their history of playoff success and recent improvement mean they shouldn’t be underestimated. Team MVP - OF Ryan Dos Santos

Kitchener Panthers - Kitchener clinched the final playoff spot and will face a tough challenge against the top-ranked Welland Jackfish. Despite some recent good results and a strong finish to the season, their depth may be tested in the playoffs. Team MVP - IF Raul Gonzalez

Brantford Red Sox - Brantford’s late push came up short, and they will miss the playoffs this year. Although they showed promise with some notable performances, they struggled with maintaining leads and consistent play throughout the season. Team MVP - P Josh Laukkanen
