IBL POWER RANKINGS WEEK 12

Every week, a panel of IBL media experts will submit their power rankings. These submissions will be averaged to determine the official power rankings for that week. These rankings only consider game results through Sunday, July 28th

Welland Jackfish – The Jackfish remain consistently strong with a solid one-through-nine batting order and a reliable rotation. Their stability and battle-tested experience have kept them at the top through a recent skid as they have bounced back and are poised to go on another deep run.

Barrie Baycats – Showing strong form after the All-Star break with effective management and injury responses, the Baycats added offence at the deadline to complement their elite starting staff. If they want to catch Welland and stay ahead of London and Guelph, these next two games against the Fish will be crucial.

Guelph Royals – The Royals have also made moves, adding depth to their lineup, with an eye on a deep playoff run. Guelph continues to pitch well and that has led to big wins against top teams.

London Majors – With expected health improvements and new pitching additions, London has the potential to be a major threat if their bats heat up. Not picking up a win last weekend hurts their position in the rankings.

Hamilton Cardinals – The Cardinals are working to overcome a July slump. Losing a pair of league veterans hurts but the additions of Cameron and Hospital on the mound help. Their ability to go on a run will be crucial for their championship hopes.

Chatham-Kent Barnstormers – Despite strong individual performances, Chatham is still struggling with consistency, especially pitching. They have had glimpses of success on the mound but will need more of it down the stretch.

Toronto Maple Leafs – Recent strong performances from the veteran core and faith in the existing lineup are positives. However, they will need to stay consistent with it. Two wins over London provided confidence, something they will look to build on.

Kitchener Panthers – The addition of a fourth Cuban import could be a game-changer, but pitching improvements are necessary to support their potent offense. A six-game losing streak heading into Thursday's game against Guelph has them at No. 8.

Brantford Red Sox – Brantford needs more consistent support behind ace Jeremias Sucre and must address defensive issues. A lot of talent in Brantford but that does not matter if they cannot finish ballgames.
