Ibarra MVP in Team North all-star win
HAMILTON – Yunior Ibarra was named IBL All-Star Showdown MVP after driving in three runs in Team North’s 5-4 win over Team South on Sunday night in Hamilton.
The Kitchener Panthers’ catcher hit a two-run single in the second inning and drove in a run with a single in the third. Panthers’ teammate Yordan Manduley and Hamilton’s Niko Kekatos drove in the other two runs for Team North. Toronto’s Dan Marra scored twice.
Guelph pitcher Edgar Garcia earned the win after a scoreless second inning. He walked one and struck out two. Barrie’s Frank Garces started and struck out two of the three batters he faced.
For Team South, Chatham-Kent's Sadler Goodwin hit a solo home run. Welland’s Robert Mullen and London’s Cleveland Brownlee each drove in a run, and London’s Toby Simmons went 2-for-4 and scored twice.
On the mound, Brantford’s Aidan Armitage took the loss after allowing four runs on five hits in two innings. He walked two and struck out three.
