Hinrikus drives in five in Panthers’ win

KITCHENER – Tyler Hinrikus homered and drove in five as the Kitchener Panthers defeated Brantford 14-6 Thursday night at Jack Couch Park.

The Panthers’ shortstop also doubled and scored twice. Blake Jacklin had two hits, including a home run, and drove in two, Liam Wilson singled, doubled and had an RBI and a run, Jett Jarvis had a hit and scored twice, Eric Martin and Andy Leader each drove in a run and scored, Kenny Di Clemente and Evyn Sherman both drove in a run and scored twice and Dan Mahoney went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run.

Nathan Laird (2-0) went two scoreless relief innings for the win. He struck out three. Brett Reid started and went four innings, allowing five runs on eight hits with four walks and six strikeouts.

Kitchener improved to 12-18.

For Brantford (2-28), Nick Burdett went 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBI and Jamiel Orozco singled, homered and drove in two. Liam Sutherland went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run and Roger Keen added an RBI.

Kendri Salvador (0-3) took the loss, giving up nine runs (eight earned) on nine hits over four innings. He walked three and struck out three.
