Higuera strikes out 12 in complete-game win

LONDON – Juliandry Higuera went the distance and struck out 12 in the London Majors' 6-3 win over the Guelph Royals Friday night at Labatt Park.

Higuera (2-2) scattered nine hits and allowed two earned runs while walking one.

Ismael Pena had two hits, two RBI and a run, Cleveland Brownlee went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run, Carlos Arteaga singled twice and scored, Phillip Thrappas had an RBI and a run, while Byron Reichstein and Mike Ambrose each had an RBI.

David Mendham went 2-for-5 with two runs. Jeff MacLeod and Ethan Mohan both drove in a run.

Yomar Concepcion (1-1) gave up six runs (four earned) on 10 hits in six innings. He struck out six and didn't walk a batter.

Guelph dropped to 5-6, and London improved to 3-8.
