Hauck strikes out eight as Panthers double Baycats

BARRIE -- Christian Hauck struck out eight over seven innings to lead the Kitchener Panthers to a 4-2 win in Barrie Thursday night. 

Hauck (5-1) allowed two runs on six hits with a pair of walks. Brady Schnarr walked one and struck out one in a scoreless ninth for his first save. 

Offensively, Panthers' leadoff batter Jett Jarvis went 2-for-4 with an RBI, run and two steals. Andy Leader drove in a run and scored, and Dan Mahoney singled twice. 

James Anderson doubled home a pair of runs in the second inning for Barrie, while Ryan Rijo singled twice and doubled. 

Baycats' starting pitcher Jaspreet Shergill (0-1) allowed four runs (two earned) on four hits over two innings in the loss. He struck out four. 

Kitchener (13-11) moved into second position in the league, while fifth-place Barrie dropped to 11-14.
