Hamilton signs Lefty Ben Braun
HAMILTON - The Hamilton Cardinals are pleased to announce the signing of current Wilfred Laurier rookie of the year and former Burlington Herd Left Handed Pitcher Ben Braun (Georgetown).
Ben had an incredible season helping Laurier win the OUA Baseball Championships this past fall, and has spent part of 2 summers playing both junior and senior in Burlington. Ben has pitched in 23 games in the IBL with a 0-4 record and 1 save with 49 strikeouts in 45 innings.
“Ben is a great addition. He is a great kid who works hard, but he also understands pitching. Now in his 3rd year in the IBL he has made great strides and has improved in each season. I feel he will play an important role with the club this season” stated GM Jeff Lounsbury, who also was a coach at Laurier this season.
After signing in Hamilton Ben stated that “I look forward to meeting everyone and taking the field next spring. With all of the signings and re-signings so far, it looks like we have every capability to be a contender next year and I can’t wait to get things started.”
The Hamilton Cardinals are members of Ontario’s most elite baseball league, The Intercounty Baseball League. The 101 year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, established in 1919.
