Gordner's big night propels Panthers
TORONTO - Mike Gordner homered and drove in four as the Kitchener Panthers beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 13-3 Wednesday night at Christie Pits.
Gordner finished with three hits and scored twice as Kitchener improved to 5-1. Zarley Cina went 3-for-5 with two RBI and a run, Brian Burton hit a solo home run and scored twice, Zach Johnson singled twice, doubled and scored twice with an RBI, Keegan Marsden had three runs and an RBI, Ryley Davenport and Jeff Hunt each drove in a run, and Mike Andrulis went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run.
Brady Schnarr (2-0) picked up the win after giving up two runs on three hits over six innings. He struck out four and walked two.
Zach Sloan (0-3) took the loss for Toronto (3-5). He allowed six runs (five earned) on eight hits with two walks in four innings.
Offensively, Cooper Lamb hit a solo home run, while Zac Orchard singled twice and scored once. Marcus Knecht and Justin Marra each scored once. Knecht added an RBI.
