Gordner makes hit count in Panthers' win
BRANTFORD – Mike Gordner made his only hit count as his RBI double scored Colin Gordner in the top of the 11th inning to lead the Kitchener Panthers to a 5-4 win over the Brantford Red Sox at Arnold Anderson Stadium Sunday afternoon.
Colin Gordner and Zach Johnson each had a hit, RBI and a run, while Keegan Marsden drove in two, and Zarley Cina went 2-for-6 with a run.
For Brantford, Austin Wilkie went 3-for-5 with a home run, two RBI and two runs. Matt McGovern and Jesse Fishbaum drove in a run apiece.
Panthers pitcher Mike Schnurr (2-0) earned the win after two scoreless innings of relief. Christian Hauck started and went seven innings, allowing two runs on seven hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
Michael Bucci (0-1) took the loss, allowing an unearned run on one hit over two innings. Brady Cappe went six innings and gave up four runs (one earned) on seven hits with two walks and a strikeout.
Kitchener improved to 4-1, and Brantford fell to 1-4.
